Early Life and Career

Daniel Joseph Hurley (born January 16, 1973) is an American college basketball coach who has served as the head coach of the University of Connecticut (UConn) Huskies men's basketball team since 2018. Before UConn, Hurley spent five years as head coach at the University of Rhode Island (URI), leading the Rams to two NCAA Tournament appearances.

UConn Head Coach

Hurley became UConn's head coach in 2018. In his first three seasons with the Huskies, he led the team to three consecutive NCAA Tournament appearances, including a run to the Elite Eight in 2021. Under Hurley, UConn has consistently been a top contender in the competitive Big East Conference.

Coaching Style and Philosophy

Hurley is known for his intense and passionate coaching style. He emphasizes defense, rebounding, and player development. Hurley believes in building a strong team culture and fostering a positive environment for his players.

Accomplishments

During his time at URI, Hurley led the Rams to a 109-73 record and two NCAA Tournament appearances. At UConn, he has guided the Huskies to a 76-49 record and three NCAA Tournament appearances. Hurley has also been recognized as a top recruiter, landing several highly sought-after prospects for both URI and UConn.

Personal Life

Hurley is married to Andrea Hurley and they have three children. He is a graduate of Wagner College, where he played basketball and earned a degree in business.
